The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at West Jefferson Medical Center has supervised biweekly 2 hour sessions in a
12 week program designed to help people with chronic lung disease. The program provides the participants and their families with information and support to meet the day-to-day challenges of living with chronic lung disease such as Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (COPD), Asthma or Pulmonary Fibrosis. This program is intended to:
- Assist the patient and his/her family in better understanding pulmonary disease
- Improve the patient's fitness level and endurance without exceeding safe exercise limits
- Control symptoms of respiratory disorder as much as possible
- Decrease anxiety and depression
- Increase patient compliance with medication regime
- Assist in smoking cessation
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program also conducts a Smoking Cessation Program
3 to 4 times per year for the general public at West Jefferson Medical Center. Individual sessions and on site sessions are also available.
