Diabetes Services
Caring for your Diabetes can be difficult. You do not have to do it alone.
The Diabetes Services at West Jefferson Medical Center has a team of Educators that can evaluate and educate you on all aspects of your Diabetes care.
The Diabetes Services and its American Diabetes Association certified program, includes a certified nurse diabetes educator and a registered dietitian. Teaching sessions include basics of diabetes management, treatment modalities, acute and chronic complications, exerecise guidelines, instruction on individualized meal planning, and incorporating goal setting and lifestyle changes to improve diabetic healthcare.
Contact the Diabetes Services at (504) 349-2222 to discuss the classes available. A variety of class times are available with morning and evening sessions to assist with the care and management of your Diabetes.
These services are covered by Medicare and most insurances. A physician referral is required to schedule a class.
The Diabetes Services is located in Suite S-115 of the Physicians Center in Marrero.
Inpatient Diabetes education continues to be offered at West Jefferson Medical Center.

Nutritional counseling is also available for those without Diabetes. Anyone interested in learning about lowering cholesterol, weight loss, healthy eating habits and specialty diets can contact the Registered Dietitian at WJ Fitness Center (504) 348-0055.
