Business Advantage Program

The West Jefferson Business Advantage Program is dedicated to serving the Business and Industry community of the New Orleans and Gulf South areas. With work-related injuries and ergonomics at the forefront of Business and Industry concerns, the Business Advantage Program is available to assist companies to educate, prevent and care for injured employees. There is no charge to participate in this hospital-based occupational health member service.

Through the Business Advantage Program educational programs such as CPR, First Aid, and First Responder, as well as many others, can be provided at your request. Educational programs are offered to Business Advantage companies at member rates, at our facility or the workplace. Business Advantage would appreciate the opportunity to provide you with a proposal in response to your requests for classes.

The Business Advantage Program offers prevention initiatives and education through the Behavioral Medicine Center and the West Jeff Fitness Centers.  The EAP, (Employee Assistance Program), of the Behavioral Medicine Center is offered at a member rate to Business Advantage companies. The EAP offers free, confidential counseling for employees who may be suffering with emotional problems that might affect job performance. The EAP holds onsite classes for stress management and other topics of interest. EAP membership also includes DOT training on signs and symptoms of substance abuse (required for supervisors), crisis counseling services, and supervisor consultations. In the unfortunate occurrence of an accident in the workplace, whether individual or mass casualty, Business Advantage may assist you with information regarding transport of your employees by air or ground to our ER facilities. We will also facilitate staff to meet your company representatives and assist with care, family notification, and to assure timely communication to the company representative on patient condition. Business Advantage strives to assist you with information on plan of care, and updates on in-patient employees are provided through our Case Management Department.

The Business Advantage Program serves as an individual contact, for those companies enrolled, to West Jefferson Medical Center’s many programs and services. We are here to assist area businesses with concerns that may arise; Business Advantage strives to serve as a vital link between your company and the many departments of West Jefferson.

Employee Assistance Program (E.A.P.) Fact Sheet

WHAT IS THE EAP?

West Jefferson Medical Center Employee Assistance Program provides confidential, professional assistance to help employees and their family members address personal problems that might affect their personal lives and/or job performance. The EAP is a voluntary program that encourages individuals to seek assistance on their own. The EAP can enhance the work climate of an organization and promote the health and well-being of employees.
The EAP provides services for West Jefferson Medical Center as well as local business and industry members.  Some of the benefits of having an EAP.....

  • Fewer disciplinary actions, improved employee morale and productivity
  • Early identification and resolution of problems affecting job performance
  • Reduced company losses due to theft, absenteeism, fraud, accidents, medical claims
  • For every dollar invested in an EAP, employers can save from $5 to $16.  The national cost range for an EAP is $12-$20 per employee (U.S. Dept. of Labor)
