Pediatric Emergency Department
Opened in December of 2000, the Pediatric Emergency Department is the only service of this type on the Westbank. This six bed unit is available for the stabilization and/or resuscitation of a variety of illnesses and injuries in children from birth to 17 years of age.
Medical care is provided by Emergency Department physicians specifically trained in Pediatrics.
Nursing care by Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and Unit Registration Clerks is provided seven days a week/24 hours a day.
Over the past 5 years, the Pediatric Emergency Department served over 50,000 patients and their families within our community. Due to the overwhelming success and patient satisfaction, we continue to provide excellent Pediatric Emergency Care to meet the needs of our community. |

Pediatric Unit
The Pediatric Unit can accommodate 32 children and their families. Nursing care is provided for patients from birth to 18 years.
In conjunction with a patient's Pediatrician, medical care is directed from Pediatric Sub-specialists including: Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Neurology, and Urology. Admitting diagnoses include respiratory, cardiac, neurological, gastrointestinal, metabolic, and surgical conditions.
Our team consists of many personnel such as: Hospitalists, Registered Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Unit Clerks, and Nurse Technicians.
Our Child Life Specialists assist patients with adjusting to the stress of hospitalization. In addition to art, medical play, and age appropriate education, a giant playroom, pet therapy, and the TLC program are other activities our kids can enjoy while here.
To facilitate healing and encourage nutrition, a pediatric menu is used with age appropriate fun shaped food and many color choices.

WJMC Pediatric Specialty Clinic provides a variety of Pediatric sub-specialty services to its patient population. The services offered to our patients include, but are not limited to, Nephrology, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Disease, Allergy/Immunology, Pulmonology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, and Neurology, which is accomplished by providing onsite diagnostic testing, hospital care at WJMC, 24-hour a day telephone access to a physician for consultation, along with office access at a location on the WJMC campus. Our medical staff consists of Board Eligible or Board Certified Physicians. We are able to accommodate our patients by offering accessible parking and flexible office hours, along with offering educational presentations several times during the year.
