Surgical Services

West Jefferson Medical Center’s surgical care and services include attention to the needs of inpatients and outpatients across a wide range of specialties including bariatrics, cardiovascular surgery, colorectal surgery, general surgery, neurosurgery, oncological surgery, orthopedics, plastic and reconstructive surgery, urological surgery and vascular surgery. State of the art equipment is present including the da Vinci Robotic System and other technology.

Dedicated intensive care, oncology and neuroscience, stroke unit, and general medical surgical units as well as the post anesthesia care unit provide comfortable settings for patient and family as well as a good work environment for physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

The Surgery Department is located on the second floor of the hospital where outside the department, a surgery and critical care courtesy desk is staffed by hospital volunteers during peak weekday hours providing additional resources to patients’ families.

In addition to the full complement of surgical services, a number of support groups are offered including bariatric support group and post-stroke support group as well as family and community gatherings such as an annual emphathy experience day hosted by the inpatient Rehab Unit. Amenities through the Guest Services Department include wireless internet connections.

West Jefferson offers information on fitness and wellness, educational resources on numerous health-care issues, social and emotional support, and nutritional guidance. The West Jeff Fitness Centers are conveniently located on campus as well as in the Wellness Complex in Terrytown. Attention is given to spiritual care with programs and services offered by the Spiritual Care Department and hospital chaplains.
